The Insurance Institute of Botswana (IIB) was duly registered as a non-profit association with the Registrar of Society in 2016.
The IIB was formed with the following set of objectives:

  • To provide and maintain a central organisation for members of the Institute
  • To encourage the advancement of insurance education and knowledge and generally to promote any scheme which may raise the standard of the insurance profession in the Republic of Botswana
  • To facilitate the development of strategic policy for the insurance industry
  • To educate members and enhance their knowledge in Insurance and related areas
  • To bridge the gap between the local industry and the international industry practices
  • To endorse insurance courses locally
  • Generally to promote the interests of the members

The Constitution of the IIB provides for four (4) categories of membership of the Institute. They are: Individual; Professional; Corporate; General and Honorary Life Members.

IIB has already held its inaugural technical seminar in March 2016 at Masa Hotel, the below were the topics of discussion
